The Arguello Enriquez family are the owners of Finca Santa Cruz, consisting of Cruz José Argüello Miceli, Leticia Enriquez Rios, Karina Argüello Enriquez, and Cruz José Argüello Enriquez. It is located alongside the Triunfo Biosphere Reserve, at an altitude ranging from 1400 to 1700 meters above sea level. The farm grows coffee varieties such as Typica, Bourbon, Maragogype, Yellow Caturra, Marseilles, Tupy, and Gesha. Several years ago, we began producing specialty coffees, based on cutting-edge protocols for fermentation and storage to replicate processes. Every year, we measure time, temperature, Brix degrees, and pH, ensuring consistent quality in our coffees. Finca Santa Cruz is demonstrating the consistency of its coffees, the evolution in fermentation processes, and year after year, it's proving that quality is not a matter of chance. It continues to produce some of the best coffees in Mexico. José Argüello is the youngest member of the family. He is married to Berenice Coutiño Ruiz, and they have three children: Emilio, José Manuel, and Federico. José had the initiative to produce specialty coffees to demonstrate that Mexico produces high-quality coffees that can compete with the best in the world. In 2018, a protocol was established to produce a natural Gesha, which was replicated in 2019 and participated in the Cup of Excellence competition, winning 1st place with a score of 93.07 points. The results were satisfactory. In 2021, they participated again with a natural Gesha, winning 1st place with a score of 91.58. In 2022, they participated with a natural process Gesha, winning 1st place with a score of 93 points. In 2023, they introduced a new process developed years ago, a Red Honey Gesha, winning 2nd place in the competition with a score of 90.69 points. This makes them the first farm in Mexico to win this competition three times consecutively and secure a second place consecutively.
