Sítio Santa Luzia is located in the Mantiqueira de Minas region, in the city of Cristina, in the south of Minas Gerais, at an altitude from 1100 to 1180 meters.

The region has mountainous topography and high-elevation subtropical climate, which favors specialty coffee production. The farm is run by the first generation in the family. It was acquired in 2007. Ronaldo always aims for quality in the coffee produced with the variety Catucaí 2SL making up 7.5 hectares of the farm’s total of 9.1.

Regarding quality, the fields are managed with the support of guidance from Cocarive agronomists, who accompany all stages of production, from crop treatment to post-harvest processing.

Ronaldo and his wife, Luziane, run the farm in a familial agriculture system. Renan, one of their children, participates in all coffee production steps, such as fertilizing, harvesting and drying of the coffee. The owners’ eldest daughter, Aline, helps with drying. The family always seeks to produce sustainably, respecting the springs and forests on the property.

Picking began when the beans were well-ripened. The coffee was picked by hand over cloths to avoid the beans touching the ground. Each day, the coffee was washed to separate the beans, and transported to the patio for drying. The coffee was spread on the patio in thin layers and raked 12 to 15 times a day until reaching 11% humidity. After drying the lots were separated and placed in granaries to rest. Next the lots were prepared and taken to the Cocarive warehouse. The selected beans were analyzed by specialists at Cocarive, seeking to offer the market lots of high-quality. Finally, the lot yielded 3 bags of processed coffee.
