Brief history
The name “Finca Vista Hermosa” is derived from the fact that it is located within the highest mountains of the region of Huehuetenango, Guatemala and allows you to appreciate an impressive landscape of coffee plots, surrounded by forests and birds that adorn nature. The Hernández family has been dedicated to coffee production for 75 years and the love of coffee growing has been inherited from generation to generation, like a family legacy, producing the best coffee in the Region.
The people in charge of founding Vista Hermosa have been Mr. Edgar Orlando Hernández Lucas and his wife Meyri Yuzary Villatoro Roblero, who have worked hard in the coffee process, seeking day by day to improve the quality of the aromatic, to remain at the level of competitiveness. At a national and international level, this culture will continue to be encouraged in their children, since from childhood they are instilled with an interest in coffee.
In the wet mill where the coffee is processed, clean water is used directly from sources, the honey water is deposited in pits created for this purpose, as well as the gray water. Signs have been placed within the plots that prohibit the hunting of animals. and felling of trees and garbage deposits have also been created on the plots; all this with the purpose of taking care of the environment and not contaminating it.
For the founders, it is a pride to be able to mention that during the year 2021, their coffee obtained sixth place in the Higland Huehue Regional competition, in the year 2022 the farm obtained twelve place in said competition, during the year 2023 the Farm obtained first place in said competition at the level of the department of Huehuetenango, Guatemala, with a mixture of caturra bourbon and marcelleza coffees, second place in the processes category with a Geisha Honey variety, and fifth place in the other special category with a Geisha variety, an event that is organized by the Association ANACAFÉ Coffee National, of the Republic of Guatemala, which motivated us to improve process techniques and by 2023 we decided to participate in the “Cup of Excellence” competition. Staying in the second National stage with a Geisha.
For the year 2024, we once again participated in the Huehuetenango Regional competition, organized by ANACAFE, obtaining the following results: Third place in the other special category with a Geisha Lavado variety; Fifth Place in the processes category with a Natural Geisha and Tenth Place in the Higland Huehue category with a caturra variety. And he is not proud to have obtained 11th place in the 2024 Cup of Excellence with a Geisha Lavado variety.
Over the years we have experimented with processes such as Natural, Honey and controlled fermentations; washed and the experience has been very positive. The coffee is dried in the patio and the special processes are in African beds in the sun and greenhouses and also under shade.
As producers we want to be able to export our coffee internationally and obtain fair prices, since the costs of maintaining coffee growing have currently risen. Currently we have planted Pacamara and Marago Gype whose age is 2 years.
We will continue working!!!!!
