I’m Antonio Dominguez, a second-generation producer who grew up around coffee, helping my father with a few coffee patches in the middle of their farm. In 2006, I managed to buy my own land with the money I had saved from working in the USA. I began using my farm for coffee production, which continued until 2010 when I switched to growing specialty coffee while still selling at conventional prices. Around 2014, I started working with Ronny Gamez, which led me to realize the true potential of my coffee. This encouraged me to participate in the Cup of Excellence (COE), where my coffee's high quality led me to achieve fourth place that year. Since then, I have continued participating in COE because I find the entire experience exciting and something that makes me proud of the hard work and effort I put into my coffee. Unfortunately, despite my ongoing participation, I did not make the cut until this year's harvest, thanks to the Geisha variety that adapts better to my farm. I am truly glad to have reached this point once again and believe that the opportunities COE offers to producers will translate into achieving some security for my farm and the coffee being produced. This will also allow me to improve the elements of my farm such as tools, space, and living conditions for myself and my family.
